By Dev Kotak: The FIFA World Cup finals screening turned tragic for the parents of a 3-year-old boy who fell to his death at the Garware club in Mumbai’s Marine Drive.
The incident took place on Sunday when a match was being played between France and Argentina. The deceased boy, Hridyansh Rathod, had gone to watch the match with his parents and sister at the screening organized by BJP leader Raj Purohit, who is also the club’s vice president, for about 400 club members on the 6th floor.

The child had gone with a 11-year-old boy on the 5th floor to use the bathroom around 10.40 pm. While returning to the floor where the match was on, he lost control and fell to the ground after slipping from the staircase. The railing of the staircase is made of glass and there is one portion where the glass is missing.

Further enquiry is underway. The boy died during treatment, after suffering head injuries, which led to excess bleeding. He was rushed to Bombay Hospital around 11 pm but died around 2 am.
