Mumbai News Live Updates, 9 December 2022: Seeking justice for this daughter Shraddha Walkar, who was allegedly brutally murdered by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawalla, Vikas Walkar Friday called for the maximum punishment against the accused and anyone else involved in the crime. “Aaftab must meet the same fate as my daughter. He must be hanged. The police must also probe the roles of his family members, his father, mother and brother, to see if they are involved in anyway or any other person is involved in the crime,” Vikas said while addressing a press conference in Mumbai along with BJP leader Kirit Somaiya. These are his first public comments on his daughter’s death.
In other news, Mumbai’s air quality remained ‘very poor’ on Friday morning, with a reading of 308 on the Air Quality Index. The temperature in the city dipped by 2 degrees Celsius; the Santacruz Observatory recorded 18.6 degrees Celsius. This is the first time this month the city has recorded a minimum temperature below 20 degrees Celsius.
Travel for citizens will become more seamless in Mumbai as Metro Line 2B between DN Nagar and Mandale — the western and eastern suburbs of Mumbai — will also connect three other Metro lines. The line is proposed to connect with the suburban railway stations at Kurla East and Mankhurd allowing passengers to access Central Railway and Harbour line trains as well as the Monorail station at Chembur.
