Mumbai News Highlights: Forest officials trap male leopard in Aarey forest after toddler death, hunt on for its sibling – The Indian Express

Mumbai News Highlights: Forty-eight hours after a leopard claimed the life of a toddler inside Mumbai’s Aarey forest, known as the green lung of the city, a three-year-old male leopard was trapped by forest officials on Wednesday early morning. Forest officials said that out of the two leopards, identified as C-55 and C-56, suspected for the recent man-animal conflicts from inside the unit-15 of the forest area, one has been trapped.

In other news, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh approached the Bombay High Court seeking a regular bail in a corruption case lodged against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The bench asked CBI to file a reply by November 9 and posted the matter for further hearing to November 11.

The BMC has planned an extensive beautification project for Dadar and Mahim, including the shoreline between Dadar and Mahim beach, Shivaji Park, Portugese Church Junction and Dadar station. The BMC has proposed having a multimedia light show along the Mahim and Dadar beaches and a digital aquarium inside the park opposite Chaityabhumi. This will provide tourists an experience of walking underground though a tunnel, with water and marine life overhead.
