Mumbai Maharashtra News Today Live Updates, September 21, 2022: NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday said that filing cases and arresting Opposition leaders seem to be the flagship project of the Centre. “If you check today’s newspaper, it has detailed how Central probe agencies have increased their actions against Opposition parties and leaders. It seems that filing cases and arresting Opposition leaders are the flagship project of the Centre,” Pawar told reporters in Mumbai.

The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction Wednesday approached the Bombay High Court seeking direction to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner and its assistant commissioner of G-North ward to grant permission to hold a Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on October 5. The petition was mentioned for urgent hearing before a bench of Justice Ramesh D Dhanuka and Justice Kamal R Khata on Wednesday morning, which kept it for hearing on Thursday.

In other news, the Eknath Shinde-led government is likely to clear a proposal granting 20-day casual leave to policemen to reduce their stress levels. Currently, officers get only 12 casual leaves. This was first proposed by former DGP Sanjay Pandey, who is now behind bars in an ED case. Meanwhile, the move has taken many by surprise as the BJP was always at loggerheads with Pandey. The matter will come up in the state Cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday afternoon. The Maharashtra state cabinet is all set to clear a proposal for the redevelopment of Dharavi Wednesday. Dharavi is the largest slum in Mumbai and various attempts to redevelop it have failed in the past or did not take off. However, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is very keen that the proposal gets clearance this time.
