Mumbai, Maharashtra News Highlights (August 11): The legislators of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena were not invited to the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Maharashtra Assembly held Thursday morning to discuss the schedule of its upcoming monsoon session. Following the rebellion of Eknath Shinde in June and subsequent change of guard in Maharashtra, the Shinde camp and 40 supporting MLAs have been claiming they are the original Shiv Sena.

Meanwhile, the cabinet expansion of the Maharashtra government led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis finally took place on Tuesday. While 18 leaders from Sena’s Shinde faction and BJP got ministerial berths, several leaders felt left out and spoke in hushed tones about their frustration even during the swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan.

In other news, two women succumbed to the injuries they sustained in the fire reported from a chawl in Worli Monday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has said in a statement. Laxmi Rathod, 50, was admitted to Kasturba Hospital and was being treated for her injuries when she succumbed on Tuesday at 3.30 am, according to information from the BMC’s Disaster Management Department. Madhu Rathod, 38, was declared dead at Nair Hospital on Wednesday evening.
