Mumbai: In nick of time, cops save nurse from suicide – Times of India

MUMBAI: Smart thinking after knocking on the door pretending as a room service boy, helped the Khar police team to gain access to an Andheri (East) Hotel and save a 22-year-old woman from committing suicide.
Khar police found that the woman did not eat food for over 24 hours and was making up her mind to kill herself with weapons–hacksaw blade, knife, and scarf–that were found in a bag next to her late on Thursday evening.
During the inquiry, it was learnt that the woman employed as a nurse in a hospital in the western suburbs since December 2021 was under severe depression due to work pressure. The woman was tracked with the help of her mobile tower location, said the police.
The nurse had checked into the hotel with her genuine identity cards on July 27. The hospital realised that the nurse was missing and filed a complaint after learning that she had walked out of the hospital on July 27 around 4.30 pm without informing anyone.
“The woman told the police that she was under severe depression due to work pressure. She said that she had been getting suicidal tendencies for some time and she wondered why she was living,” said assistant inspector Santosh Kanse who was part of the team that saved the woman.
Khar police acted swiftly when they received a missing complaint from Manoj Das, employed with the hospital, on Thursday around 4 pm.
Based on the information, DCP (Zone IX) Manjunath Singe and his team helped trace her from the hospital.
The woman was handed over to her parents who rushed to Mumbai from Sangli. She has been counselled and sent to her home in the village at Sangli where her parents work as farmers, said the police.
