Mumbai: Four held in four different molestation cases at railway stations – Times of India

MUMBAI: Four men were arrested in different cases of alleged molestations that they committed at — CSTM, Kurla, and Mumbai Central— between July 18 and 24.
Police said among the four victims, two included minors. Police said in the two cases involving minors, the accused has been booked under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
In one of the cases registered at Kurla railway police station on Sunday, a 28-year-old homemaker was molested while she was sleeping in the waiting room at the Kurla LTT Terminus.
The victim travelled along with his husband and mother-in-law from North India and was supposed to head to Vasco in Goa, where her husband is employed after the incident. The on-duty police personnel at the station nabbed Kurla (West) accused Shoaib Siddique (35), employed in a private firm.
“The victim screamed and got up when she felt someone touching her back while she was sleeping in the traveller’s waiting room. She was supposed to board the train to Goa in the morning when the incident occurred at around 5.10 am,” said Kurla railway police, senior inspector Kalyan Shardul.
In the two other cases registered with the CSTM railway police on July 23 and 24, two accused have been arrested for outraging the modesty of two female passengers, including a minor.
Accused Gopi Boye (35) was caught by the railway police when the train touched Masjid railway station on Sunday morning.
“The 21-year-old victim came to Mumbai along with her brother to shop for Raksha Bandhan. She boarded the ladies’ compartment while her brother got into the gents at around 10.30am. Boye who was standing in the gents’ compartment boarded the ladies’ compartment as the train left CSTM railway station. Initially, he started making lewd gestures before he went close to her and started touching her. She alerted her brother who alighted at Masjid station and alerted the police and got Boye arrested,” said CSTM railway police senior inspector MA Inamdar.
Inamdar said in the second case they have arrested Salman Sayyed (19) for allegedly molesting a 16-year-old girl who along with her friend boarded the train from Byculla.
Mumbai Central police arrested Harishkumar Gupta (22) on July 18 for molesting a 13-year-old at the Parel railway yard at around 2.30am.
