Mumbai: Driver felt mom was into black magic, killed her with bro, lover – Times of India

MUMBAI: Wadala police have arrested a 25-year-old BEST bus driver and his minor brother for allegedly killing their 42-year-old mother as they believed that she was into black magic and blocking the former’s marriage. The bus undertaking staffer’s girlfriend was also arrested.
Cracking the murder of Nirmala Vijay Thakur, police arrested her sons Akshay Thakur, his younger brother and girlfriend Komal Bhoilkar (22) from near Panvel. Askhay and Komal were produced before the holiday court and remanded in police custody, while the minor was produced before the Juvenile Justice court and sent to a rehab centre at Dongri.
On June 4, when Vijay Thakur, who works as supervisor in a security company, returned to their Panchsheel Nagar home in Wadala in the morning, he found wife asleep covered with a bedsheet. Not spotting any movement for long, Vijay removed the bedsheet only to find Nirmala in a pool of blood.
He immediately informed Wadala police. During the inquiry, it initially seemed like the handiwork of a robber as the Thakur couple’s sons “were not in city”. “We carefully studied the CCTV footage of the vicinity and saw Akshay, his brother and Komal leaving the area in the wee hours.
When we called up Akshay, he told us they were holidaying in Lonavla, but their CDR location was showing some other place. This raised our suspicion about their role. We sent a team and picked them up,” Satish Pawar, senior inspector of Wadala police station, said.
Police interrogated the three of them separately and found discrepancies in their stories, following which they grilled Akshay. He spilled the beans on the killing. Akshay said he recently had a bike accident after which he was hospitalised and had a steel rod placed in one of his legs.
Soon after that, he underwent an appendix operation. “Akshay and Komal wanted to get married, but they felt that his mother was into black magic and creating hurdles in their plans. On June 3, Nirmala picked up an argument with Akshay and Komal following which he stabbed his mother with a knife on her back, face and stomach, while Komal and his brother helped him,” Pawar said.
Police said Akshay and Komal had brainwashed the young boy about Nirmala’s character, completely influencing him and getting him to help with the murder.
