Angadias’ extortion case: Mumbai crime branch issues lookout note for suspended IPS officer Saurabh Tripa – Times of India

MUMBAI: The city crime branch probing the angadias’ extortion case involving policemen, on Friday got a lookout circular issued against suspended IPS officer Saurabh Tripathi.
An LOC is issued to ensure that an individual who is absconding or wanted by law enforcement agencies is not able to leave the country. At the immigration counter, the individual’s name crops up if there is a LoC issued. LOC is issued if there is an apprehension that he may not join the investigations.
Officials said they suspect Tripathi who is on the run since a FIR of extortion was registered in December may try to leave the country and hence LOC has been opened against his name. After a third attempt to nab Tripathi in his home town in Lucknow failed on Sunday, the city crime branch officials strongly suspect that he is very much in India.
On Friday, the crime branch will be filing supplementary chargesheet against Tripathi’s brother-in-law Ashutosh Mishra, an assistant commissioner of Central Goods and Services Tax and Tripathi’s domestic servant Pyarelal Goud. Officials said on May 13 the stipulated period of 60 days is getting over.
