MUMBAI: On the day when the deadline set by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray regarding taking down of the loudspeakers ended, of 1,140 mosques in the state only 135 mosques used speakers for Azaan, said sources from the state home ministry.
Senior officials said that the Mumbai police will look whether these 135 mosques violated the Supreme Court guidelines set for the use of loudspeakers in public places.
“Action will be taken against those mosques which violated the rules. The law and order situation in the state is peaceful and there is no problem,” said officials.
