Mumbai: Police search for motorist for assaulting BEST driver in road rage – Times of India

MUMBAI: In a case of road rage, an unidentified motorist and his friend after crashing their car from behind the BEST bus on Jari Mari Road in Saki Naka on Friday evening charged inside the bus and abused and assaulted the bus driver claiming to be his fault.
Saki Naka police said the two fled away when one of the commuters on the bus rushed to help the driver, Yogesh Gaikwad (33). When the commuter, Navnath Misal, in the bus rushed for the driver’s help the two accused fled away from the bus.
The witness, Misal, who rushed for Gaikwad’s help managed to note down the sedan car registration number (MH-03-DA-1230) in which the duo sped away. “There were commuters in the bus when the motorist crashed his car from behind and indulged in a fight with the BEST driver. We have sought details from the regional transport office (RTO) to locate the whereabouts details of the accused. Also, the team is going through the closed-circuit television (CCTV) to track the accused motorist,” said a police officer at the Saki Naka police station.
The incident occurred at around 5.30 pm when the bus was making a return trip from Andheri to Kurla. In the complaint, Gaikwad said, “The car crashed from behind when the bus reached the Saki Naka Metro Station. Immediately the two men rushed into my cabin. They abused and assaulted me claiming that it is my fault. The two fled away when the commuter rushed for my help.”
A case under the Indian Penal Code sections 34 (common intention), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), and 504 (criminal intimidation) against two persons.
