The tiny tribal district of Palghar has given booster shots to 100% of its eligible senior citizens, as per the state’s latest figures. Mumbai is a close second where almost 97% of senior citizens who were eligible for the precautionary shot have taken it. The overall uptake of the precautionary dose has been less than enthusiastic in the state. Only those who have completed nine months after their second shot are eligible for the third shot. By that parameter, 21. 36lakh senior citizens qualified for the booster dose in Maharashtra till last week, of which 13. 24lakh (62%) have taken it. Ten districts, however, have performed better than the state average. Apart from Palghar and Mumbai, Raigad, Thane, Jalgaon, Pune, Nandurbar, Nashik, Aurangabad and Nagpur have been seeing a good response.
