Mumbai: Commuters suffer during peak hours as section of BEST drivers go on flash strike for second day – Times of India

MUMBAI: Due to delay in salary payments, drivers of wet lease buses went on flash strike once again on Friday morning.
The strike was observed by drivers at Bandra, Vikhroli and Wadala depots and this has affected the bus operations in the morning peak hours as not a single wet lease bus was operated.
As many as 175 buses are lying idle at these depots due to drivers’ protest.
BEST officials said they had deployed 86 buses from few other depots to cater to passengers in Bandra, Dadar and Vikhroli-Ghatkopar areas.
Nearly 200 drivers have participated in the agitation which is the second time in two days. On Thursday morning, the strike was observed for few hours at Wadala and Kurla depots.
The BEST will take action against the contractor for not providing services as per the terms ad conditions of the contract and for inconveniencing scores of commuters.
