Mumbai was at the centre of first and second waves of Covid-19, and now it is firmly placed in the same spot as the third wave rages. The numbers, just like during the first two waves, look scary. Some figures, like daily positivity rate, are outright nightmarish. And while there is talk all around of this wave being more benign than the previous two, a case fatality rate of just under 2% does not provide much comfort. Case fatality rate is the proportion of people who die from a specified disease among all individuals diagnosed with the disease over a certain period of time.
