MUMBAI: Mankhurd police on Monday booked a Khalapur resident for driving rashly and killing his own wife on the Ghatkopar-Mankhurd link road late on Monday evening.
The Mankhurd police arrested Santosh Pal under the IPC sections for rash, negligent driving, as well as under the Motor Vehicles Act. His wife, Manjunath (23), was sitting in the passenger seat next to him.
According to the police, the complaint was lodged by a taxi driver, Mohammed Afroz. Afroz, who said that a speeding Swift car rammed into the back of his cab. He immediately stopped his taxi and saw the Swift car was badly damaged and the woman in the passenger seat was seriously injured. She was rushed to Shatabdi hospital where she was declared dead.
