Mumbai: Aaditya Thackeray reviews traffic measures at Dahisar Naka after citizens slam jam – Times of India

MUMBAI: Maharashtra guardian minister for Mumbai suburban Aaditya Thackeray on Wednesday reviewed the traffic situation at Dahisar Toll Naka after citizens took to social media to vent their frustration at the traffic snarls at this stretch on Western Express Highway.

The toll naka is an entry point to north Mumbai on Mumbai-Gujarat highway.
It witnesses movement of 4 lakh vehicles every day.
Poor roads, toll plaza and metro work are the major causes of traffic holding up for almost an hour every day.
Thackeray tweeted, “Reviewed the traffic mgmt measures at Dahisar Toll Naka with MMRDA & Traffic Police. Most of the suggested measures have been implemented, however some issues like the metro pier work and resurfacing will take about 15 days to resolve, post which, one shall see relief in traffic.”
At Dahisar toll naka, work on erecting pillars for Metro 9 (Dahisar to Mira-Bhayander) is also under way.
A senior official of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority said, “A total of 10 pillars have to be completed for Metro work. Of which 4 have been completed, two will finish in a few days. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) was not granting permission to construct the remaining four pillars because of which work was held up for three months.”
He further said, “In today’s meeting, MSRDC granted permission to commence work on remaining pillars. Once this work is completed, barricades will be removed thus bringing relief to motorists as more space will be available for them.”
Citizens slammed the chaos at the toll naka during the morning peak hour. Mira Road resident Rajesh Desai said, “Even two-wheelers were unable to move for almost 30 minutes.”
Another commuter, Shoaib Khan, said, “I was stuck for almost one hour after reaching Mira Road from Vasai.”
Thackeray had taken a similar review in September when there was similar outrage. At that time, he had cited work on construction of pillars for Metro 9 (Dahisar to Mirar Road).
