On November 26, 2008, 10 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists from Pakistan arrived by sea route and opened fire, killing 166 people, including 18 security personnel, and injuring several others during the 60-hour siege in Mumbai.

Mumbai Live News: To mark the 13th anniversary of the terror attacks in Mumbai, on November 26, 2008, tributes were paid to victims who laid down their lives fighting terrorists. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and state Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil paid their respects at the memorial at the police headquarters in south Mumbai. President Ram Nath Kovind while paying his tributes said that the nation will always be grateful for the bravery and sacrifice of the security forces. Union Home Minister Amit Shah saluted the courage of the security personnel who fought the terrorists and made the supreme sacrifice.

In another development, former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh on Friday appeared before the police officials in Thane in connection with the investigation into an extortion case registered against him there, sources said. Singh reached the Thane Nagar police station along with his lawyer around 10.30 am. The probe team is likely to record his statement, the sources said, adding that zonal DCP Avinash Ambure was present at the police station to supervise the probe. The Thane Nagar police had registered the case of extortion against Singh and others based on a complaint lodged by builder and bookie Ketan Tanna (54) in July this year.

The Bombay High Court on Thursday rejected an anticipatory bail application filed by businessperson Raj Kundra in connection with an FIR registered against him for allegedly distributing pornographic videos.

On the virus front,  Mumbai reported 179 new covid-19 cases and four fresh fatalities on Thursday, taking the infection tally to 761955 and the death toll to 16,319, a civic official said.
