Mumbai News Live: Mumbai on Saturday reported 247 new coronavirus infections and two fatalities which took the tally of cases in the metropolis to 7,59,328 and death toll to 16,290, a civic official said.

Mumbai Police on Saturday approached the magistrate court seeking to declare its former commissioner Param Bir Singh a proclaimed absconding offender in connection with an extortion case registered by the Goregaon police, along with two other accused – Vinay Singh and Riyaz Bhati — stating that they are absconding and could not be traced.

After initiating trial run in October last week, the Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) and Mumbai Port Trust are set to start pilot run of water taxi services between domestic cruise terminal (DCT) at Princess Dock in Mazgaon in south Mumbai and Belapur in Navi Mumbai.

The BMC will take the help of satellite images to identify illegal constructions and encroachments in the city. The civic body will use these images to create a database to compare the deviation in the original structures in the last 30 years. Recently, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had directed the corporation to take action against illegal constructions.
