Mumbai News Today Live, Mumbai Rains Latest Update, Coronavirus Mumbai Latest News Live: Mumbai is predicted to witness moderate rains till September 5 and heavy rains between 6 and 8 September, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). For the next 48 hours, the city and suburbs are likely to witness heavy rains in isolated places.

AccuWeather meteorologist Jason Nicholls also predicted that the city will receive rains between Tuesday and Thursday.

Mumbai Airport was evacuated this morning for a mock drill, police said, urging people “not to panic”.  “A mock drill is being conducted at Mumbai International Airport. No one needs to panic,” read a statement by Mumbai Police as quoted by news agency ANI.

Mumbai, on Friday, reported 422 new Covid-19 cases and three related deaths. This is the third straight day that the city has been reporting over 400 Covid-19 cases. The cumulative count now stands at 7,45,434, while the death toll has gone up to 15,987. Mumbai currently has 3,532 active Covid-19 cases after 303 patients recovered on Friday, pushing the cumulative count of recovered patients to 7,23,458.

Meanwhile, invoking terror charges under the UAPA, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Friday submitted its chargesheet against 10 accused, including dismissed Mumbai Police API Sachin Waze and retired ACP Pradeep Sharma, for allegedly planting gelatin sticks in an SUV near the residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani — and the murder days later of Thane resident Mansukh Hiran, who had been using the vehicle and had reported its theft.

On the other hand, Varavara Rao on Friday sought extension of his medical bail and permission to shift to his residence at Hyderabad in Telangana before the Bombay High Court, citing ill health and high expenses in Mumbai. Rao, arrested in the Elgaar Parishad case in 2018, was granted medical bail by the HC in February for six months.
