Bombay HC seeks roadmap from Maharashtra govt in filling vacancies at Info Commission | Mumbai News – Times of India – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Bombay high court on August 26 directed the state to set out a roadmap within four weeks to fill in vacancies, remaining and anticipated, among Information Commissioners even as the government said it was on the “verge’’ of appointing three candidates.
In a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by former Chief Information Commissioner Shailesh Gandhi and others highlighting the vacancies, the state lawyer said three new ICs are expected to take charge in four weeks on completion of all formalities.
The lawyer for the commission said one commissioner retired in April 2021 and two others are due to retire in December and expressed concern that with three new appointments, the Commission would still not be functional at full strength.
