Mumbai: BMC cancels annual fruits, flowers and vegetables exhibition in February 2022 due to Covid-19 – Times of India

MUMBAI: The BMC has cancelled its annual exhibits of fruits, flowers and vegetables that is held every February at the Byculla Zoo this year in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“In February every year an exhibition of flowers, fruits and vegetables is held in February. It is attended by delegates from all over the country. However, the Covid-19 virus is still prevalent. Against this backdrop, the exhibition of flowers, fruits and vegetables for February-2022 has been cancelled due to difficulties in preparation and possible third wave of Covid-19,” the BMC said in a release.
Under the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Trees Protection and Preservation Act, 1975, an exhibition of flowers, fruits, and vegetables, trees, or seedlings is organized every year by the BMC. The exhibition is held in the last week of January or the first week of February. The duration of the exhibition is three days. Approximately two to three lakh citizens and school children visit the exhibition during these three days. In addition, various dignitaries, as well as eminent personalities, visit the exhibition regularly.
