Mumbai news live updates: Mumbai’s Covid case fatality rate stands at 2.16%

Mumbai on Saturday reported 259 fresh cases of Covid-19 and five fatalities, taking the overall case count to 7,40,871 and the death toll to 15,946. Total recoveries in the metropolis have gone up to 7,19,662 with 281 patients getting discharged. Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray urged citizens to not lower their guards as the threat of a third wave is still looming over the state. He also made clear that a lockdown will be put in place once again if cases begin to rise following the slew of relaxations that have been announced recently.
