Due to the shortage of Covid-19 vaccines, the vaccination on Saturday will take place at only 34 out of the 315 public vaccination centres in Mumbai. Whereas, no vaccination will take place in Thane. Meanwhile, Mumbai city on Friday reported 309 new cases. Eight people succumbed to the virus, while 407 were also discharged during the day. The active cases stand at 4,345. Maharashtra reported 5,539 new cases. In another development, education minister Varsha Gaikwad said that the government will reopen schools from August 17 for students from class 5 to 8 in rural areas, while cities are set to see classes 8 to 12 reopening following Covid-19 protocol.Read Less
