How Bombay HC will save 1,500 trees every year – Times of India

Should Indian courts do more to save our forests? The answer to the question can only be a ‘yes’ and you can’t be faulted if your mind whirrs to conjure an image of the gavel going down as a judge rules in favour of an environmental cause. But Indian courts are doing a lot more than just ruling on cases that impact our environment. They are leading by example.

The Bombay high court – easily one of the busiest high courts in the country – earlier this month made use of A4 size paper mandatory for all kinds of litigation and internal communications, discontinuing use of the larger foolscap paper, a hangover from the colonial era. More significantly, it allowed printing/writing on both sides of an A4 sheet.
