Mumbai News Updates: City reports 733 fresh COVID-19 cases

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday issued a high alert for all authorities in Mumbai in view of expected very heavy rainfall in the city on June 13-14. Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Chahal told TOI on Friday that Mumbai will continue to remain under level 3 restrictions next week. Chahal said that Mumbai will remain under level 3 restrictions till Covid cases come down to around 100-200 per day. With the addition of 696 new coronavirus cases, the infection count in Mumbai rose to 7,15,146. The death toll in the financial hub rose to 15,146 after 24 more patients succumbed to the infection, the BMC data showed. Thane city continues to remain in Level 2 and narrowly missed an upgrade to Level 1 as the positivity rate remained over 5 per cent for two days last week, said municipal commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma. Consequently, the ongoing relaxations will be applicable next week also in Thane. All the vaccination centres in Kalyan-Dombivli will remain closed for two days on June 12 and 13 due to the prediction of heavy rains.Read Less
