Mumbai News Live: Daily Covid cases drop below 1,000-mark, 44 deaths reported in 24 hours

Gusty winds along with heavy rains lashed Mumbai and its neighbouring areas on Monday as the ‘very severe cyclonic storm’ Tauktae passed close to the coast while moving towards Gujarat. Several trees uprooted and most low-lying areas waterlogged. During the day, over 450 complaints of falling of trees and branches were received from across the city. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) had also shut all its operations for 11 hours. Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 1,240 new COVID- 19 cases, the lowest single-day count since March 9, and 48 more deaths on Monday.
