Mumbai News LIVE: Maharashtra govt imposes new lockdown-like restrictions – Times of India

Maharashtra will request the Centre to increase the oxygen quota allotted to it from other states to from 300 to 500 metric tonnes (MT), state health minister Rajesh Tope said on Wednesday. At present, 1,250 MT of oxygen is being produced in the state and about 300 MT is being supplied from three other states. Tope further said Maharashtra has six plants that can produce oxygen but it can’t be transported as there are no bottling facilities. So, said the minister, the state is considering setting up a 500-bed Covid hospital on each of the premises. “We may soon have 3,000 additional beds with oxygen supply. Preliminary work has begun,” said Tope. Two of these plants are in Raigad district, near Mumbai.
