Mumbai police officer dies of Covid-19, force’s toll rises to 101 – Times of India

MUMBAI: A police sub-inspector attached with the Vakola police station died while undergoing treatment for Covid-19 early on Monday.
Mohan Dagade (54) did not show any signs of discomfort at BKC’s Covid Care Centre till late Sunday and was expecting to get discharged in a day or two when suddenly his condition deteriorated.
Dagade was tested positive for coronavirus and got admitted to the Covid Care Centre on April 4 after he complained of mild fever. He had comorbidities.
“Doctors said that Dagade was responding well with the treatment. His breathing rate was 96 which suddenly dipped past-midnight and at around 3.30am he died,” said a police officer.
Dagade is survived by his wife and two sons.
This year alone, 14 police personnel have died of Covid-19 infection.
As many as 101 police personnel have died due to coronavirus so far, the Mumbai Police said.
