Mumbai weekend lockdown: Full list of guidelines, what’s available online; Dos and Don’ts – Times Now

Mumbai: Amid an alarming spike in COVID-19 cases in Mumbai, a weekend lockdown had been announced in the country’s financial capital.

On Wednesday, detailed guidelines have been released by the civic body Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Mumbai Police, regarding the lockdown where several points have been clarified to avoid chaos in the city.

BMC issued a clarification on rules linked to the night curfew and weekend lockdown in Maharashtra’s capital to curb the spread of COVID-19 infections.

The country’s financial capital is one of the worst-affected cities in the country. On Wednesday, 10, 428 new cases were added. Keeping the rapid surge in kind, strict lockdown will be in place on Saturday and Sunday apart from night curfew.

Here’s a look at full list of guidelines during weekend lockdown in Mumbai

  1. Home deliveries: Home deliveries from restaurants will be allowed. Takeaways will not be allowed during the weekend lockdown. Also, home deliveries of essential items will be allowed.
  2. Takeaway allowed at roadside stalls: However, food takeaway will be allowed at roadside stalls, including fruit vendors. However, one cannot stand and eat there.
  3. Maids and cooks allowed: During the weekend lockdown, maids, cooks, drivers, house help, nurses, and medical attendee who is taking care of old patients will be allowed between 7 am to 10 pm on all days, including weekend lockdown.
  4. Eye clinics: The order stated that eye clinics, optical shops will be allowed to function within the given time frame.
  5. Examinations: In case of examinations, students or candidates can attend the exams with hall tickets. Also, one guardian parent can also be allowed to travel with the student.

Here’s a list of restrictions on weekdays

  1. As night curfew starts at 8 pm, not more than 5 people are allowed to travel between 7 am and 8 pm. From Friday 8 pm, only essential services will be allowed as both lockdown weekend and night curfew get combined.
  2. Beaches: All the beaches will be shut down till April 30 to control virus spread.
  3. Gardens: More than 5 people won’t be allowed at gardens and public grounds which will be open from 7 am to 8 pm.
  4. Shops, Markets: All shops, markets, malls will be shut on weekdays and weekends. Only essential services will remain open.
  5. Buses and auto-rickshaws: No passenger should stand and travel in the bus, however, the public transport can run at full capacity. Two persons can sit in the autorickshaw.
  6. Private vehicles: On weekdays, they are allowed between 7 am and 8 pm. However, in order to offer essential services, private vehicles will be allowed to operate during non-permitted hours.
  7. Passengers coming to and from Mumbai: The passengers coming by air, rail, a bus can travel at all times. 
  8. Industrial workers: With a valid ID card, the industrial workers can travel at all times.
  9. Film shooting: With certain clauses in place, shooting for films and TVs is allowed keeping precautions in mind.
  10. Barbershops: In order to curb the spread, places of worship, barbershop, salons will not be allowed to operate.
  11. Bars and wine shop: Only home delivery is permitted for these shops.
  12. Newspaper circulation: The vendors are allowed to circulate them between 7 am and 8 pm.
