After maintaining a steady curve for a while, Maharashtra is once again witnessing a surge in COVID-19 positive cases. Mumbai’s Dharavi, which was the hotspot of COVID-19 a few months ago, has once again sees a spike in cases. Sixteen more persons tested positive for coronavirus in the slum-clusters of Dharavi on Friday, taking its total to 4,066. This is a substantial rise from the previous days when the cases were under 10.Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has declared a lockdown in some districts – Amravati, Yavatmal – where the COVID-19 cases have jumped. On the other hand, the relief and rehabilitation minister Vijay Wadettiwar said that the state is still against a total lockdown, but will impose stricter restrictions to control the spike in Covid-19 cases in Nagpur on Friday. The govt is considering reducing locals’ frequency in Mumbai, shutting down cinema halls, and strictly monitoring marriage halls, the minister added.Stay tuned for all the latest updates here…
