Mumbai News Live: City records 1,167 Covid-19 cases; highest spike since December – Times of India

Amid rising COVID-19 cases in Mumbai and the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has asked the state chief secretary to draw up a plan to implement two working shifts at the Mantralaya and explore which government departments can run at full capacity with employees working from home. Mumbai city on Tuesday reported 643 new cases, taking the cumulative COVID-19 tally to 3,20,532. Eight more deaths pushed the city’s toll to 11,454. The active cases stand at 7,536. BMC Commissioner IS Chahal has said that they are taking steps to educate people about the importance of wearing face masks and following physical distancing norms. Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also visited Dadar market to create awareness.
