Four injured in cylinder blast in Versova – Times of India

MUMBAI: At least four people suffered injuries in a cylinder blast in Versova at around 9.40am on Wednesday.
The incident was reported from Yari Road based gas cylinder godown.
Eight fire engines and seven jumbo water tankers have been rushed to the site along with civic ward level staff.

A senior Mumbai fire brigade officer said it is a ground plus one structure.
“The injured were taken to the hospital even before our teams could arrive at the site by locals. Our priority is to complete the fire fighting and cooling operations currently. We will investigate the cause of blaze there after,” he said.
Locals near the blast site said that they began hearing the explosions around 9.40am.
“It reminded me of the the loud Diwali fire crackers initially which continue to burst repeatedly. The noise could be heard continuously every few minutes till 10am. Our windows had began to vibrate. Fire teams rushed after the blast and began the fire fighting operations,” said a local.
The injured have been identified as Rakesh Kadu (30), Laxman Kumavat (24), Manjit Khan (20) and Mukesh Kumavat (30). They were taken to Cooper hospital.
Dhaval Shah, a member of Andheri Lokhandwala Residents Association, said that ideally such cylinder godowns should not be allowed to function within residential premises at all.
“Residents said that the explosions went on continuously for several minutes,” he said.
