Plea in Bombay HC seeks FIR against Dhananjay Munde for ‘false’ info on number of kids – India Today

Trouble is mounting for Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde over his extra-marital relationship. A plea has been filed in the Bombay High Court seeking an FIR against Munde.

An FIR was recently registered in Mumbai by a woman who said her sister had been raped by Munde. Clarifying on the issue, Munde had stated he had been in a relationship with the woman and they even had two children. He had alleged that the women were blackmailing him.

Now, a man named Hemant Patil, who claims to be president of Rashtriya Bhrashtachar Virodhi Janshakti, a social worker and an RTI activist, has filed a petition against Munde.

Patil said under article 226 of the Constitution of India, the court should order the police to register an FIR under section 420 of Indian Penal Code.

Patil said that as per the Conduct of Election Rules, candidates contesting elections are required to make declarations.

Patil said Munde has suppressed various material facts and misled the Election Commission of India. Patil’s plea has a copy of the affidavit filed by Munde before the Maharashtra Election Commission in 2019. Munde had won the election from Parli constituency on an NCP ticket.

“The affidavit states that he has only two daughters. But Munde had relations with another lady since 2003 and his family including his wife and friends knew about this and he has another son and daughter from that lady, which is not mentioned in the affidavit. It is nothing but an offence under section 420 of Indian Penal Code and also a violation of various provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act,” said Patil.

Patil said he had made a complaint to the police station at Parli and the Superintendent of Police, Beed, for registration of offence of cheating but they refused to do so. He then sent emails to the Director General of Police, Maharashtra, and the Chief Election Commissioner of India.
