Mumbai COVID-19 tracker: 656 new cases in Mumbai, active cases reach 7,180 – Mumbai Mirror

Mumbai: A single-day increase of 656 infections pushed Mumbai’s COVID-19 tally to 2,98,889, according to the latest data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Currently, there are 7,180 active cases in the city.

With 1,145 recoveries on Sunday, the total recoveries surged to 2,79,643. The recovery rate of Mumbai district is 93 per cent.

The death toll climbed to 11,186 with the virus claiming six lives in a span of 24 hours. Out of six deaths, five patients had co-morbidities. Also, three patients were male and three were female. Two deaths were between 40 to 60 years, four deaths were above 60 years of age.

The overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai from January 3 to January 9 is 0.21 per cent. The doubling rate in Mumbai was 366 days as of January 10, 2021.

The active containment zones (slums and chawls) and high-risk contacts remain below 200 at 178.

On the other hand, Maharashtra reported 3,558 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the tally to 19,69,114. In the last 24 hours, 34 persons succumbed to the virus. The death toll in the state has now reached 50,061. As of today, there are 54,179 active cases in the state. The case fatality rate in the state is 2.54 per cent. Also, 2,302 patients were discharged today while the cumulative recoveries have reached 18,63,702. The recovery rate in the state is 94.65 per cent.
