Mumbai COVID-19 tracker: With 654 new cases, Mumbai’s total tally reaches 2,97,638 – Mumbai Mirror

Mumbai: Mumbai recorded 654 new COVID-19 cases, taking its total tally to 2,97,638. In the last 24 hours, the city witnessed 472 recoveries and with this, the total number of recoveries reached 2,77,664. There are 7,927 active cases in the city, while the death toll stands at 11,171.

On Friday, Mumbai reported nine deaths, according to latest data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Out of the nine deaths reported, five patients had co-morbidities. Six patients were male and three were female. Two patients were between the ages of 40 to 60 years and seven patients were above 60 years of age.

The recovery rate of Mumbai district is 93 per cent.

The overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases in Mumbai from January 1 to January 7 is 0.21 per cent. The doubling rate in the city is 364 days as of January 8, 2021. The number of active containment zones (slums and chawls) remain below 200 at 196.

On the other hand, Maharashtra reported 3,693 new coronavirus cases on Friday, taking the tally to 19,61,975. In the last 24 hours, 73 persons succumbed to the virus. The death toll in the state has now reached 49,970. The total number of recoveries surged to 18,58,999 with 2,890 discharges on Friday. Currently, there are 51,838 active cases in the state.
