Navi Mumbai: A conman posing as Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official kidnapped three Iraqi nationals from Mumbai Airport’s Terminal-2 and robbed them of over Rs 90,000.

Khalapur police have now arrested the accused, who is part of the five-member gang that abducted three Iraqi tourists on December 26.

The police were informed by Khalapur toll plaza staff about the kidnapping and robbery from Iraqi nationals. The toll plaza staff said the foreign nationals told them that they were kidnapped in a car, robbed and later abandoned near the toll plaza, according to a report in Times of India.

Police took the suo moto cognisance of the incident and arrested the accused after the Iraqi tourists did not file a police complaint.

The accused was arrested from Uran on December 27 after following his cell tower location.

According to police, after the car driver received them at the airport, he was joined by four other aides on the way and one of them claimed to be CBI officer.
