AC buses to be deployed in sync with Metro timings in Mumbai – Times of India

MUMBAI: Air-conditioned (AC) BEST buses will be deployed outside all Metro station feeder routes to ensure comfortable travel for commuters, and will cut travel time to offices, a senior official said on Sunday. He added that the bus timings will be in sync with Metro trains’ arrival timings, to ensure seamless connectivity.
Some of the newly-introduced AC electric buses will also be deployed outside the Metro stations. The city will get a total 340 AC electric buses. Twenty six were launched last Friday.
On Sunday, BEST spokesperson Manoj Varade said that the new e-buses are being deployed on three prominent routes. These include route number 25 Ltd, which is from Backbay depot to Powai. The other two routes are 121, from Backbay to Napean Sea Road/J Mehta Marg, and route number 137 from Navy Nagar to NCPA (ring route).
The new electric AC buses have WiFi, charging ports, CCTV cameras, and a lift for the differently abled who will be able to board the bus in a wheelchair.
Said an official: “We plan to introduce maximum AC buses outside Metro and railway stations during the morning peak hours to ensure that our commuters travel in comfort. Many routes will have new buses as we plan to procure more than a thousand new AC buses in coming weeks, with 34 arriving by month end.”
