Coronavirus latest updates: 31,118 new cases in India; Serum Institue of India says Covishield safe, immunogen – Mumbai Mirror

Maharashtra and Mumbai city continued to report a drop in new COVID-19 cases. On Monday, the state saw an increase of 3,837 new cases, taking the tally here to 18,23,896. As many as 80 people succumbed to the virus, pushing the death toll to 47,151. Whereas a total of 4,196 more people were discharged after recovery. Active cases now stand at 90,557. Mumbai reported 646 new cases, 775 recoveries, and 19 deaths over the last 24 hours. Active cases stand at 13,008. Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged leaders not to politicise the hunt for the origins of the novel coronavirus as it will not help in unearthing the truth of the virus. He said that the organisation will start the study from Wuhan and based on the findings, it will explore ‘if there are other avenues’. The Centre is also likely to hold an all-party meet to review the situation.
