5,535 new coronavirus cases in Maharashtra; 5,860 recover, 154 die – Times of India

MUMBAI: Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally on Thursday went up to 17,63,055 with addition of 5,535 cases, a state health official said.
As the virus claimed 154 more lives, the fatality count reached 46,356, he said.
A total of 5,860 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the state’s recovery count increased to 16,35,971.
The count of active patients is now 79,738.
Mumbai city reported 924 positive cases during the day, which pushed its overall case count to 2,72,455, while its death toll rose to 10,627 as 12 patients succumbed to the infection.
The state has so far conducted 99,65,119 tests.
The Mumbai division, which consists of Mumbai city and satellite towns, reported 1,913 new infections, raising the region’s case count to 6,11,559. A total of 18,441 people have died so far in the region, the official said.
The number of cases in the Pune division stood at 4,42,117 and deaths at 10,387.
Nashik division’s case tally stood at 2,37,115 and death toll at 4,453.
Kolhapur division has reported 1,11,761 cases and 3,896 deaths till now, while Aurangabad division’s case tally stood at 65,883 and death count at 1,668.
Latur division has reported 72,681 cases until now and 2,229 fatalities.
Akola division has recorded 55,970 cases while 1,322 people have succumbed to the disease until now.
Nagpur division has reported 1,64,017 infections and 3,801 fatalities, the official informed.
As many as 1,952 Covid-19 patients from other states have received treatment in Maharashtra, including 159 who died.
Maharashtra’s Covid-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases: 17,63,055, new cases: 5,535, death toll: 46,356, discharged: 16,35,971, active cases: 79,738, people tested so far: 99,65,119.
