Mumbai COVID tracker: Active cases inching toward 20,000 once again; city reports spike of 1,463 new cas – Mumbai Mirror

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Mumbai is once again rising towards the 20,000 mark, as recoveries fall.

On October 18, the active cases had dropped to 18,062. However, with the detection of more cases, the number has increased to 19,491.

Today, 1,463 people tested positive for the virus, taking the tally to 2.47 lakh.

The recoveries have comparatively increased today after 1,289 people got discharged. So far, 2.16 lakh people have recovered.

The death toll, too, has spiked to 9,918 after 49 people lost their lives to the virus today. Among those dead, 39 people had co-morbidities and 35 were above the age of 60.

The recovery rate stands at 88 per cent, while the doubling rate is 108 days. Till yesterday, 14.06 lakh people have been tested for the virus in the city.

In Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum, numbers are once again on a rise. Today, the slum cluster reported 16 new cases, taking the count to 3,459. The number of active cases stands at 135.

On the other hand, Maharashtra reported 7,539 new cases on Thursday, taking its tally to 16.25 lakh. Whereas, 198 fresh deaths pushed the toll to 42,831.
