COVID-19 Latest Updates: Dharavi reports 15 new cases; Metro trains allowed to run from today – Mumbai Mirror

Maharashtra once again saw an uptick in fresh COVID-19 cases. On Wednesday, the state reported 10,552 new cases, taking the total tally to 15,54,389. It also saw 19,517 discharges. With this, the number of recoveries stands at 13,16,769. Also, with 158 new deaths, the death toll has climbed to 40,859. Maharashtra is currently a host to 1,96,288 active coronavirus cases.Even though the number of new COVID-19 patients in Mumbai continues to remain high, the Maximum City has also been reporting an increasing rate of daily recoveries for the last few days. On Wednesday, 2,211 new cases were detected in the city, taking the overall tally to 2.34 lakh. With 3,370 people getting discharged, the number of coronavirus recoveries stands at 2.1 lakh.Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has allowed metro trains in Mumbai to operate. Mumbai metro has said operations will begin on October 19.On the other hand, Pune reported 47 deaths and 1,237 fresh cases.The Union Health Ministry on Thursday said that India’s doubling time has sharply increased to 70.4 days (it was 25.5 days in mid-August). “This indicates a substantial fall in the daily new cases and the consequent increase in time taken to double the total cases,” it added.Follow the Latest Updates on COVID-19 here:
