Covid-19: Pune now has more active cases than Mumbai – Pune Mirror

Fresh COVID-19 cases continue to increase in Maharashtra. The state on Sunday reported 11,111 new cases. This takes the total tally to 5,95,865. Currently, there are 1,58,395 active cases in the state.

According to a report published by the Medical Education and Drugs Department (Maharashtra), the state also saw 288 new deaths. With this, the death toll has climbed to 20,037. The mortality rate now stands at 3.36 per cent.

For the first time in days, Mumbai saw a slight dip in new cases. The city reported 1,010 fresh cases. It currently has 17,825 active cases. The Pune Municipal Corporation and Pune reported 1,539 and 644 new cases respectively. Each district in Maharashtra has registered at least three cases.
The number of active cases present in Pune (41,020) has now surpassed that of Mumbai’s (17,825). The areas that come under Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Kalyan-Dombivali Municipal Corporation, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, Bhivandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation, and Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation have 20,288 active cases combined.

According to statistics, 70 per cent of deaths are co-morbid in nature. Maharashtra has collected 32,08,735 samples till date, out of which 81 per cent of them have tested negative. Of the patients currently admitted, 96 per centare asymptomatic in nature.
