COVID-19 latest updates: 60,963 new cases in India; Mumbai numbers below 1000 – Mumbai Mirror

Even though the number of COVID-19 patients dropped below 1000 in Mumbai, Maharashtra continues to report more cases, whereas the overall country’s tally is showing no sign of slowing down below 50,000. On Tuesday, 11,088 new COVID-19 cases and 256 deaths were recorded in the state. The total count of cases in the state now is 5.3 lakh with 1.48 active cases. The death toll is 18,306. Whereas in Mumbai, with 917 new cases, the total number has gone up to 1.25 lakh including 99,147 recovered/discharged patients, 18,905 active cases and 6,890 deaths. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a meeting with Chief Ministers of 10 states and said that surveillance, contact tracing, and containment is the major weapon in battling COVID-19.
