MUMBAI: A 27-year-old city cricketer hanged himself at his Malad home on Monday night. Karan Tiwary, who bowled in Mumbai senior team nets, is suspected to have depressed due to his career. No suicide note was found, and an accidental death case was filed by Kurar police.
He lived with his mother and brother. Police said Tiwary called a friend in Rajasthan and told him he was upset about not being selected to play, and was planning to end his life. The friend told his sister, who also lives in Rajasthan. She told their mother, but it was too late. Tiwary had gone to his room after dinner and locked the door around 10.30pm. By the time it was broken down, he was dead.
Actor Jitu Verma, Tiwary’s friend, said he had been struggling in the game for years.Mumbai senior team coach, Vinayak Samant, said he had been trying to find a good local club for him.
