Shops in Mumbai can remain open on all days on all sides of the road; malls to be operational from 9 am- – Mumbai Mirror

As per the revised guidelines for easing of restrictions and phase wise opening of lockdown in respect of Mission Begin Again, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Iqbal Singh Chahal has issued the order that all shops shall remain open on all days on all sides of the road, irrespective of even and odds in Mumbai.

The guidelines of opening of lockdown states all essential shops and non-essential shops will be allowed to continue as per relaxations and guidelines issued vide Order May 31, 2020, June 4, 2020 and June 29 2020 and are in operation as per the policy of respective Municipal Corporation.

All non-essential markets, market areas and shops will remain open from 9 am to 7 pm. Liquor shops will continue to operate for sale and home delivery with strict observance of COVID-19 national directives of mask and social distancing. On violation of such directives, FIR will be lodged against the owner of the shop and the person/s found violating the same and strict action shall be initiated, mentions the order.

Malls and market complexes will be operational from 9 am to 7 pm with effect from August 5, without theatres, food courts / restaurants. However, kitchen of restaurant and food courts will be allowed to operate in malls wherein only home delivery through aggregators will be allowed.

Furthermore, e-commerce activity for essential as well as non-essential items and material will be permitted. All the industrial units which are presently open will continue to operate.

All construction sites (public/private) are allowed to remain open and operational and all such pre-monsoon works (public and private) are allowed. Home delivery restaurants/ kitchen and online / distance learning and related activities are allowed in the MMR region.

Other activities which are permitted include:

All Governments offices (excluding emergency, health & medical, treasuries, disaster management, police, NIC, Food & Civil Supply. Municipal Services to function with 15% strength or 15 persons whichever is higher.

All private offices can operate up to 10% strength or 10 people, whichever is more.

Activities related to self-employed people like plumbers, electricians, pestcontrol and technicians.

Garages to mend vehicles and workshops with prior appointments.

The inter-district movement of persons within the area of Municipal Corporations under the MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region) for the essential activities and the office purposes. For shopping purposes people are expected to use only nearby / neighbourhood markets only. Long distance travel for non-essential items will not be permitted.

Marriage related gatherings on open spaces, lawns, non air-conditioned halls as mentioned in Order dated 23rd June 2020.

Outdoor physical activities with restrictions.

The offices/staff of educational institutions (Universities/ Colleges/ Schools) for the purpose of non-teaching purposes including development of e-content, evaluation of answer sheets and declaration of results, research workers and scientists.

Barber shops, spas, salons, beauty parlors with conditions as permitted by state government as mentioned in order dated 23rd June 2020.

Outdoor non team sports like golf courses, outdoor firing range, outdoor gymnastics, outdoor tennis, outdoor badminton and malkhamb will be allowed with physical distancing and sanitation measures with effect from August 5. Swimming pools will not be allowed to operate.

Wearing of mask shall be compulsory in transport system.

Any other allowed and permitted activity by any specific / general order.

The Maharashtra government has extended the lockdown in the state till August 31, with a gradual easing as part of Mission Begin Again.
