MUMBAI: The city crime branch probing the fake social media followers scam involving celebrities and Bollywood actresses on Friday recorded the statements of two executives of social media company Chtrbox. While fashion designer Ankita Arora and model Aashi Sharma, who allegedly used online services to boost their fan following, did not turn up citing they were in Delhi, police recorded the statements of Chtrbox CEO Pranay Swarup and his wife and company COO Julie Kriegshaber. Investigating officer Sachin Waze said the couple is likely to be made witnesses in the case.
The case came to light after singer Bhoomi Trivedi complained about a fictitious Instagram account in her name. Abhishek Dawde and Kashif Mansoor have been arrested for running portals that offered to inflate followers.
