While India may be in the first phase of Unlock 1.0, the subcontinent has seen a subsequent rise in COVID-19 cases in the past one week. With Maharashtra the worst hit state, the rising number is a cause of concern. On Saturday alone, Mumbai saw 1,383 fresh cases, which took the city’s total tally to 56,740. Meanwhile, four more constables of the Mumbai Police succumbed to the infection in the past 24 hours. The officials were attached to Crawford Market, Vakola, Dindoshi and Borivali police stations. About 26 constables and officers have succumbed to the virus so far. While the number of cases continue to surge, former BMC Chief Ajoy Mehta believes that Mumbai is “not at all” in the community transmission stage as all new cases are from quarantine areas or containment zones. “Community transmission happens when we are not able to trace index cases. As of now, we are able to trace all index cases,” he said.
