MUMBAI: A BJP corporator in Mira-Bhayander filed a rape and atrocity case against former party MLA Narendra Mehta on Friday. He is absconding, said the police.
The 44-year-old corporator in her complaint to the police alleged that Mehta (47) had married her in a temple in Dahanu in 1999. The corporator claimed to be estranged from her husband and stated that she gave birth to Mehta’s child, a boy, in March 2003. She said that Mehta married another woman in January 2003.
Mehta lost the last assembly election to BJP rebel Geeta Jain. On Monday, he claimed he had left the party after his personal videos went viral.
Mehta’s aide Sanjay Thartare was also booked for threatening the woman corporator in December 2015.
